CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Oggie (Ognian) the Jägermonster from Girl Genius
In-Game Name: Ognian Vladimir Kaposvar
Age: 267
Gender: Male
Appearance: Tall, blonde and muscular. Round faced and clean shaven with a certain boyish charm that is ruined by his needle teeth, talons, and the large horn curling out of the left side of his head. Normally found with a long moleskin coat lined with fur and his cut-tassel fez. Even if he has to change clothes for some person Oggie always finds a hat to wear. The only accessory that he is never without is the small silver pendant with the green stone. The last thing that most people notice about Oggie is his feet, each one has two large toes with two curve nails on each toe. Oggie is always barefoot no matter the weather or terrain, but with all the other things to grab people's attention nobody ever really brings it up.
Personality: Friendly and oddly straightforward without being too blunt. Oggie makes friends better than most Jägermonsters (it helps that his skin tone and hair are normal even if he does have a horn on his head). Oggie is often taken by nostalgic moods where he wistfully remembers the good times he spent with his friends and family back home, though a good fight will snap him out of it. As a Jägermonster he enjoys few things like a good battle. The fight and the hunt are quite literally what Oggie was made for so he never turns down the chance.
Lately he's been off on his own away from Jägermonster influence, including that of his old pack. Lacking the Jäger influence he's been more influenced by the human part of him. Oggie is a family man at heart, whether that family be the people of his home town, his fellow Jägermonsters, or his actual surviving descendants. Oggie sees a family as one of the greatest treasures one can have and does his part to help his friends in their relationships as much as he helps them on the battlefield. This help is not always asked for or appreciated. In many cases it isn't actually helpful.
Abilities/Weapons: Oggie has the fangs and claws of all Jägermonsters, he also has a sturdy horn on the left side of his head but he never uses it for violence. When it comes to battle he prefers to use his triple headed pole axe. This has gotten him thrown off ships in the past as his wide swings endangered the rigging. He doesn't like it, but he can break the poleaxe down into three smaller axes. For more meaningful or close up work he prefers his curved dagger (which he is told is from his father's tribe).
As a Jägermonster he is stronger, faster, and tougher than most human warriors and if he's careful in battle has a nearly unlimited lifespan. Though all of his kind have sharper senses, Oggies eyes are even keener, noticing details at a glance that some would need time and maybe a magnifying glass to detect. He could become a good marksman if anyone could keep him from just running up to enemies and stabbing them.
Weaknesses: Oggie tries to get along with everyone and can sometimes cheerfully greet people (or sometimes things) that want him dead. So far this has only gotten him into trouble when he had friends to help get him out. This can also be taken advantage of by enemies clever enough to play along and get on Oggie's good side only to betray him when it becomes convenient.
After he became a father Oggie has had a permanent soft spot for kids. He'll go out of his way to save children (or what he thinks are children) in danger and will give even the brattiest child much more leeway than most people, let alone most Jägermonsters. His love of children also leads to him obsessing over his descendants and pestering them for yet more great, great, etc grandchildren. This has led his children and further descendants to hide from their Jägermonster ancestors in the far corners of Reial. The other side of the fatherhood coin is that he often meets people that he thinks are related to him, but have no clue who he is. He will see a trait that "runs in the family" and use it as a reason to buddy up with that person and figure out how they're related. Some people enjoy his company for a while (usually the more rough and tumble types he meets) while others do everything they can to dissuade him of the idea. They all get annoyed when he tries to set them up on dates on encourage their significant others to "Make de babies!"
Though he understands that people are generally scared of Jägermonsters, (either because they've heard the stories or are generally leery of things with fangs and claws) Oggie often forgets that people are scared of him even when he's not trying to be scary. Oggie will cause all sorts of trouble on a stroll through a market grinning at passers-by and peering in shops for goods without thinking anything of it while the local authorities are alerted to a monster snarling at the townsfolk and chasing people indoors. Not only has such behavior gotten him hung (not that it bothered him much) but he's been chased by his fair share of torch wielding mobs.
History: Once upon a time there was a mighty cossack general who wasn't gifted in the ways of science or magic. So to keep his soldiers from getting turned into jelly or frogs or maybe just little tiny soldiers, he went to the town of Mechanicsburg and made friends with the mad scientist king there. He gave the ruler, Baal Heterodyne his son Ognian to make friends and they raised little Ognian for a few years in a special school for "friends" of the King called Kindergaol. When his father and his forces fell to another warlord in the Southern Badlands, Oggie had no home to go back to. Over the years the other children in the Kindergaol were either ransomed back to their parents, executed to send a message, or escaped through their own cunning. Oggie would never have escaped even if he had somewhere else to go. The rough and tumble life of the Kindergaol was similar enough to that of his father's tribe that Oggie adapted easily. As rough as the guards and Jägermonsters were on the kids he still got fed on a semi-regular basis and had a solid roof over his head.
The Master at the time was later overthrown by his son Iscariot. The young master promised the people of Mechanicsburg less terror and a greater quality of life. Among the Iscariot's reforms was an order for all of the children that remained in the Kindergaol to be returned to their families. Oggie had no family so he remained. The Jaegermonster that cleared out the Kindergaol, Dimo, didn't like the idea of banishing a kid to the wastelands. Instead he stuck Oggie and his few belongings in a hayloft and promoted him to stableboy. Oggie spent the next 5 years tending to the horses of the growing Jägermonster forces.
To celebrate his victory of the vampiric ZOD Heterodyne, Iscariot declared that the Red Cathedral be built on the site of their battle. A construction project of this magnitude required a massive mobilization of the Jägermonsters to appropriate the supplies from nearby lands. After drafting up the architecture for the structure, he decided that the Jägers' regular horses would no longer do. He ordered every living creature in the stables brought to the zoo laboratory for experimentation. Not ones to dispute an order, Oggie was included in the sweep. Oggie passed the week in a cage quietly, hoping that he'd be able to get back to his warm hay loft soon. By the time the Master came to Oggie's cage, he'd mastered the formula for the conversion of regular warhorses into Jägermounts. Iscariot wheeled up a vat of the brew he had nicknamed the Jägertrough. After a very loud interrogation by the Master Oggie was able to explain who he was and why he was in the cage. However, with the Master in "the mad place" there was no way that Oggie could give a good enough reason why he shouldn't be forced to drink at the Jägertrough. Oggie's transformation into a Jägermonster was harrowing, physically and emotionally.
When the pain faded enough for him to see straight, Oggie found himself back in the hayloft. He and the various animals had been put back into the newly reinforced stables on the Master's orders. His first assignment as a Jäger was to get the Jägermounts under control. Despite their centuries of experience and superhuman strength, the Jägers assigned to care for the newly transformed monsters were ill-prepared for dealing with such savage creatures. Ones that they weren't allowed to kill at least. Oggie's years living with them in the stables were remembered despite their newfound bloodlust and he quickly endeared himself to the other Jägermonsters by helping them break the mounts. Despite his new found strength and fortitude, Oggie was once more serving as the stableboy.
Oggie finally got to see battle when he and the other Jägermonsters were charged with hunting down the last surviving clones of Iscariot's father, Baal Heterodyne. It was during this hunt that he finally got to do real military work with the other Jägermonsters. In the field at last Oggie got to bond with the Jägers he had met throughout his years in Mechanicsburg. Some of those friendships have lasted to this very day more than a century later. When they had slain the final clone they rode back to Mechanicsburg victorious. At the celebrations Oggie was introduced to a spirited young maid. So spirited in fact that the previous four soldiers that had flirted with her were now unconscious. Oggie took his lumps and managed to stay standing long enough to impress her with his forthright compliments.
After an equally violent courtship Oggie won the heart of the maid and they were wed in the newly completed Red Cathedral by Master Iscariot himself. Many of the Jagermonsters attended and were delighted at the opportunity to show off new and fancier hats purchased especially for the occasion (even if they had to sit still during the ceremony itself). The couple got a nice, graystone townhouse across from the Jäger-barracks and he was able to commute to work every morning and even wave goodbye when he had to ride out to battle. It was a good life, especially when his wife was pregnant. Oggie learned that no rush of battle matched that of caring for a pregnant wife. They had two children, a girl who wed a visiting noble from far off France, and a boy who set off to find his fortune elsewhere in Eastern Europa. Oggie's wife died after 30 years of wedded bliss. Upon her death Oggie cut the tassle from his fez in mourning and sunk into a deep depression that none of his Jägermonster companions to pull him out of. A depression so deep that he took up the concertina to better express his anguish. It wasn't until Iscariot passed away and his heirs warred for the throne that Oggie felt alive once more. Eventually Enoch succeeded in killing off his brothers and sisters and took the throne for himself. The new Master had dreams of conquest and marshaled his forces for a new campaign. Oggie put away his concertina and with one last look at the old townhouse, he rode to war. He knew that his wife would not have wanted him to deny what it was to be a Jäger.
In the centuries that followed many more Masters would take the throne and many more wars would be fought. Advances in technology brought airships to the masses and Mechanicsburg was no longer such a remote stronghold. The Heterodynes and their Jägermonster shock troops become recognizable by most military folks of Europa, for both their ferocity and their madness. It was not until a generation ago that the House was known for heroism rather than tyrannt, but the two Heterodyne Brothers' reign was cut short by an unknown enemy.
With no lord to serve, the Jägermonsters feared that they would be hunted as beasts by the neighboring soldiers that would come to plunder Mechanicsburg. The eldest of the Jägers, the Generals, made a deal with the Baronsince he was an ally of the Brothers Heterodyne. The Jägermonster army would serve him and he would protect them from the various forces that they had battled. To stay true to their oaths of loyalty, groups of volunteers came forward to continue the search for an heir apart from the army and away from the warm halls of Mechanicsburg. Oggie was one such volunteer, and he set forth with three other Jägers. For more than ten years they searched in vain, until at last they came upon a traveling show. With the show was girl who they knew was the one true heir. Oggie and his fellows swept the Mistress away and brought her to Mechanicsburg where she grasped her destiny as the new Heterodyne Heir. Oggie thought that things could once again return to normal but he was wrong. The Mistress ordered the Oggie and his friends back into the field to search for her father and uncle, swearing that they must be alive somewhere on Reial. Frustrated that after all the years searching alone had only led them to another wild goose hunt, the four went their separate ways. None of them believing that they'd ever really find the Brothers Heterodyne.
Since then Oggie has been drifting and having rather poor luck finding work. Sure he could prove himself in a fight and get hired as a mercenary or guard but all the exciting jobs were on airships and his favorite weapon had always been his trusty triple poleaxe. Swinging a weapon that long would play havoc with rigging so he never got hired on with the really interesting pirates or privateers. He eventually got an engineer to fix the poleaxe problem, enabling him to detach the pieces and make three regular axes but it never seemed to help. Oggie has once again taken up the concertina and has learned to play more rustic, jolly tunes to lift his spirits as he travels alone. This skill has never earned him much coin but it does well at distracting people from his fangs and claws.
The main source of income has been his services as a midwife, in a manner of speaking. Being able to take physical punishment and eat the oddest combinations of foods has made hims something of "stunt husband" for men who have trouble dealing with the mood swings and cravings that come with pregnancy. This service proved rather helpful in cities that accepted constructs, but actually caused problems elsewhere. Oggie had legal trouble with the Midwife guild in Venice, but most of the time he got along with more traditional "herbs and prayers" midwives. He's helped ease a dozen or so babies into this world in the last decade. He has also tried his best to track down his family and make sure that his great great grandchildren are doing their part to bring more babies into this world as well.
Oggie's travels have led him all around Europa, but never too deep into France or Scandinavia. He's beginning to miss the companionship of the pack and hopes that if he can't be reunited with his old hunting party, or at least he can find a good crew to call his own.

Third Person (roleplay):
The concertina wheezed a melody out in good rhythm despite Oggie's singing. He had joined the band to get a ride from Warsaw to Prague and was enjoying every minute of it. The group had only barely allowed him in but he had won them over by killing the giant kingfisher that attempted to fly off with their fiddler. He had proven that he could play the concertina and not eat his band mates, that seemed to be enough for the band's leader. As he hopped back and forth in the back of the group he got plenty of laughs from the crowd. Even more when stumbled into the group's belly dancer and belted out the song's last line wrong "- Unt I've neffer bent a post onto dem all!"
"Dammit Oggie, it's supposed to be 'I've never been to Boston in the Fall!'" The dancer leapt over to the band's leader and whispered "Robert, you've gotta do something about that guy."
Oggie retook his place in the back as the applause died down and they moved into a new song. He knew that he'd been getting the words wrong a lot but these kids hardly played anything that wasn't written in the past 10 years. It was rare that they did a good old folk melody or ballad that Oggie knew by heart. So for now he played it up for laughs and kept the audience amused. Once they were close enough to Bydan he'd leave before they put his place in the band to avote. If he pushed their buttons too much he'd be asked to leave before they were in a patrolled area and that just wouldn't do. The band's leader was pretty tough, but that wouldn't be enough to fight off bandits or monsters.
There was also the chance that one of the human musicians would get too drunk and they'd try and kick him out of the band by force. Oggie would hate to kill such nice, talented kids.
